PvP GankDrake
« on: May 31, 2008, 05:27:33 am »
Thought I would play around with the good old Drake and come up with something a little out of the box for this ship.

Resists:81/72/79/81
Shields: 10118
DPS: 641 with DG Terrors and Hobgoblin II's
Volley: 1825

Light buffer tank still gives you 68K EHP, certainly not the best this ship can give, but hell, its not about the tank. It should be good enough for most small to mid gang fights though.

Its basically just a Caldari version of the plated Gallente blaster setups, its not as unwieldy as a plate setup, but it does have a lerger sig radius.

Relatively cheap, the resist rigs cost a pittance these days. The only thing that really concerns me is the lack of cap booster, but as the weapons are capless I can live with that loss.

This will interject a bit of a shock into the Drake, most gangs tend to leave the things till last because of their huge tanks and piddling DPS. While not having the DPS of a Blasterbrute this thing can still hurt stuff, and make other peoples ships go boom in a variety of pretty explosions.

EDIT: I forgot the obligatory offlined remote armour repper in the last high for those folk who like overheating. Overheating the launchers should add about 81 DPS extra which takes it to 722 with drones.

sry for spoiling your post m8

+ 1 too. this proves that if a good setup posted ppl will stil have a look at it, even if its NR.516 of that type.

how the cap will handle point, web, mwd and 2x hardeners together is my concern tho. and as a lat question - why not core defence field purgers? because of relatively lower shields?

Cap will handle Point, Web and Hardeners just fine. MWD is only to close in til your target“s in Webrange

Cap will maintain all active mods for 3.5 minutes, but once you are in range you switch off the MWD, at which point its easily cap stable.

Purger rigs were not used because its not a passive recharge tank, its a buffer tank. I was not looking for long term recharge but as much EHP I could fit on board without reducing the DPS, which is what the ship is really about. As a result resists are more important than shield recharge.

This is not a passive recharge Drake, its more akin to the plated blaster boats, the tank isnt meant to last forever, its meant to last long enough for you to kill your opponant with your (hopefully) superior DPS.

Lastly, I wanted it cheap, the ship and mods are really not that expensive all told, and shield resist rigs cost little more than hardeners these days, so all in all its a cost effective, high DPS gank boat.

+1 here too! Funny thing is that a fellow corp mate was bored on EFT and came up with almost exactly the same (at least DPS out part) and had thought about posting but didn't do to all the Drakes on here.

No, thats right, I had forgotten to mention that. If you dont want to use the 3% implant dropping the T2 MWD for a named should do the trick

I had seen Jaleks damp Drake, wanted to post something a little more traditional but still far from the standard passive Drake just to open folks eyes up to what the ship is capable of. This fit does require good skills, and superb fitting skills (I used a friends Caldari dread/carrier pilot... not quite 5's in all relevant skills but close), but by swapping out some of the mods for best named, or replacing the DCU II with a PDS II or reactor control the lower skilled pilots fitting wise can still acheive a fit very close to this.
