Description:	Class Name: Farrgut Class: Heavy Cruiser (CA) After the introduction of the SSWR-IIIB reactor and the improved SSWR-IIIC reactors in 2158 and 2159, several additional ship classes based on the BISON hull entered service. The FARRAGUT-class fleet monitor (FMM-1) had been designed to provide fire support for contested planetary landings. The ventral forehull was modified to carry six vertical launch tubes for Grand Slam orbit-to-ground attack missiles. Below the first section of the secondary hull was an Ultra Zeus orbit-ground pulse laser mounted in a ball turret. Although five FARRAGUT-class ships had been built by the end of hostilities, the projected landings upon Romulan-held planets never took place and none of the ships saw action in their intended role. However, the nine FARRAGUT-class ships were transferred to Starfleet after 2161 and with refits and upgrades continued in service until 2215. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kitbashed by the AU Mod Team. Description:	OUTALANCE SHIPYARDS FED-TECH SECTION 31 ROMULAN D7-A Battlecruiser Owner : United Federation of Planets Class : Experimental Heavy Combat Vessel Availability : Rare In Service : 2270 Out of Service : n/a Source Star Trek: The Original Series ------------------------ As part of their technology trade with the Klingons, the Romulans procured the plans to the Klingon D7 Cruiser. The Romulan implementation of the hull was classified as D7-A. The first example of the ship-type to be equipped with a working cloaking device, the Romulan's D7-A was otherwise little different than its Klingon counterpart. The one point of interest is the replacement of the heavy photon torpedo with a plasma mortar, the precursor to the plasma torpedo. In 2270, Starfleet managed to "aquire" one of these D7-A's and it was immediately transferred to Section 31 for testing. This ship was assigned to test Federation Technolgies in secret, so it was equipped with both visual stealth as sensor blocking materials. It was the study and testing of this ship and her K'Tinga counterpart that lead to many of the systems later utilized in the developement of the Defiant Class starship.
